Boron nitride

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a layered crystalline material, known as "white graphite" due to its structural similarity to graphite. Its layers are bonded by weak van der Waals forces, and it possesses properties such as high-temperature resistance (>900℃), high thermal conductivity (≈300 W/m·K), insulation, and chemical inertness. It is widely used in high-temperature lubricants, electronic device heat sinks, and neutron absorbing materials in nuclear reactors. Production is mainly achieved through high-temperature synthesis (boric acid reacting with a nitrogen source) or chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and nanosheets can also be prepared by mechanical exfoliation. As a novel functional material, h-BN shows significant potential in aerospace, new energy, and nanotechnology.
