Sodium bisulfite (NaHSO₃) is a white crystalline powder with a sulfur dioxide odor. It possesses both strong reducing and oxidizing properties, making it a core raw material in various industrial, environmental, and food-related fields. It is used in industries such as dyeing, papermaking, leather tanning, and pharmaceuticals (e.g., as an intermediate in aminopyrine synthesis). It rapidly removes oxides, dechlorinates water in power plant reverse osmosis systems, efficiently removes residual chlorine, reducing RO membrane wear, and meets anti-corrosion and antioxidant standards. It is widely used in food processing and preservation, and can also be used in the treatment of chromium-containing wastewater, as an electroplating additive, and in cotton fabric bleaching.
